dc.descriptionEl artículo propone un análisis de las manifestaciones del enamoramiento y de su valor cognoscitivo para el desarrollo personal de los personajes principales en tres novelas: Martin Eden de Jack London, Maurice de E. M. Forster y En ausencia de Blanca de Antonio Muñoz Molina. El punto de partida serán las aportaciones de Francesco Alberoni (defensor de la expansión de la cognición a través del enamoramiento), contrapuestas a las teorías sobre el amor de J. Ortega y Gasset, E. Fromm, J. Kristeva, entre otros. Se estudia el discurso amoroso de las novelas, la trama determinada por el surgimiento y desarrollo del enamoramiento y su influencia en las decisiones existenciales de los protagonistas El objetivo es analizar tres modos diferentes de desarrollo del binomio enamoramiento y cognición, así como determinar las mecánicas de su funcionamiento y función en las novelas.es-ES
dc.descriptionThe article analyzes the literary manifestations of the emotional state of “being in love” and its cognitive value in terms of personal development of the main characters in three novels: Martin Eden by Jack London, Maurice by Edward Morgan Forster and En ausencia de Blanca by Antonio Muñoz Molina. The main methodological perspective is based on the theorizations of Francesco Alberoni (who purports that “being in love” constitutes a cognitive vehicle) and is broadened by investigations by J. Ortega y Gasset, E. Fromm, J. Kristeva, and others on the matter. In order to illustrate the three potential paths of character’s cognitive development (or its lack), the article analyzes the love discourse in the above mentioned novels, the storyline (which is determined by the emergence and development of infatuation) as well as the impact this state has on existential decisions made by the main characters.en-US
