The author proposes that the reasons developed by the Inter-American Court of Human Rights to reject requests of advisory opinions seek to preserve the subsidiary character of the regional system of human rights. However, the article shows recent cases in which the Court has not been completely consistent with its own previous decisions on this matter.El autor propone que la Corte Interamericana de Derechos Humanos, por medio del establecimiento de causales para declarar inadmisibles solicitudes de opinión consultiva, ha buscado proteger el carácter subsidiario del sistema regional de protección de derechos. Sin embargo, el artículo también demuestra que la Corte, recientemente, no ha sido completamente coherente con su propia doctrina en esta materia.
