This research is placed in the paradigm whose major aim is to implement a descriptive diagnosis of values profile in the 2002 started students in Obstretics and Child care at the same time to go deep in understanding it, from the students them selves. A large group of writers has the opinion that value basis is not yet enough in the new students. Is very relevant to give the empirical research about the issue. Is because this that had make a descriptive research and a subsequent study in depth, with both sex students in health careers, where they, besides to treat with persons with very particulars life situations, they have the ethics imperative of others persons life protection.La presente investigación se enmarca en el paradigma de investigación total, cuyo objetivo es realizar un diagnóstico descriptivo del perfil valórico en estudiantes de inicio de la Carrera de Obstetricia y Puericultura, año 2002, y a la vez profundizar en la comprensión del mismo, desde la perspectiva de los propios alumnos. Numerosos autores opinan que aún es escaso el conocimiento existente acerca de la dotación valórica que poseen los estudiantes que ingresan a la educación superior, y se considera relevante aportar al estudio empírico sobre el tema. Por tal motivo se realizó un estudio descriptivo y su posterior profundización con alumnos de ambos sexos, en una carrera de la salud, que por su naturaleza, además de tratar con personas en situaciones particulares de la existencia, tiene el imperativo ético de proteger la vida.
