| dc.description | A pervading anxiety marks our society. Men and women find themselves disturbed by permanent and rapid changes. The result can be disenchantment, abulia, or unrestraint. Often the result is an overinsistence on rights, with no acknowledgement of the duties that accompany them. Some people opt for personal happiness, placing a high value on pleasure in order to “be themselves”. Others choose to escape, to be self-complacent, to alienate themselves from the world. Indeed, some consider themselves incapable of finding integration with the world. A look back at history, though, shows that this crisis is not new and that philosophers, scientists, and educators have already formulated ideas and proposals on how to face such times. Their thoughts form a common body of ideas that act as a key bone or an axic which is a global, total, holistic paradigm. What they have said in response to their circumstance is a broad, integrated and unifying answer for our own age. Education must pick up these ideas, taking advantage of the current educational reform. | en-US |
| dc.description | La modernidad muestra signos de una sociedad “ansiógena”; al ser humano le resulta difícil adherirse al cambio, a un progreso permanente y vertiginoso, cuya rapidez lo perturba y desestabiliza. Emerge el desencanto, la abulia o el desenfreno; la exaltación de los derechos y, a la vez, una ingenua justificación que soslaya deberes inseparables a éstos. Opciones de vida que trasuntan, por una parte, una búsqueda de felicidad individual, con una valoración del placer, en un intento de ser más que nada “él mismo”, o bien el escape, la autocomplacencia, la enajenación, verse a sí mismo como ajeno al mundo, incapaz de integrarse a él, desagregado. Una mirada retrospectiva de la humanidad permite constatar, por un lado, que esta situación de crisis no es nueva; pero, por otro, rastrear y rescatar los planteamientos, ideas y propuestas de filósofos, científicos y educadores frente a ello. Se observa, en este proceso, un conjunto de ideas vertebradoras, axiales y fundantes, que convergen en un paradigma global, totalizante, holístico. Una respuesta amplia, integral y unificadora, para fenómenos de iguales características. La educación debe atender y acoger estas ideas, capitalizando la oportunidad que le ofrece la reforma educacional en marcha. | es-ES |
