dc.descriptionIn Latin America, Ecuador has been seen as a pioneer in community tourism since the 80´s that has also become a strategic activity that acts as an engine in the local development, cultural exchange and sustainable and endogenous development. Community tourism activity is a recent phenomenon and it has no tools to assess the feasibility of community tourism projects; as an academic contribution to the society we propose a methodology of evaluation to help stakeholders (private and public institutions, sociologists, NGOs social workers and the national government) make decisions in the community tourism. The methodology’s result is an assessment model that has four components inherent to the tourism project that is necessary to evaluate: (1) socio – cultural, (2) economic – financial, (3) the environmental field and (4) tourism potential. We have identified indicators to evaluate the feasibility of carrying out the community tourism projects.en-US
dc.descriptionEn América Latina se señala al Ecuador como un país pionero en turismo comunitario, que desde los años 80 se ha convertido en una actividad estratégica que actúa como un motor en el desarrollo local, el intercambio intercultural y desarrollo sustentable y endógeno. La actividad turística comunitaria por ser reciente, no cuenta con herramientas que permitan evaluar la factibilidad de proyectos de turismo comunitario. Es por esto que se propone esta metodología de evaluación basada en estudios de caso de la amazonia ecuatoriana para que apoye a los interesados (instituciones privadas, públicas, sociólogos, trabajadores sociales de ONGs y del Gobierno Nacional) a la toma de decisiones en la actividad de turismo comunitario, como una contribución académica a la sociedad y referencia para casos similares. La elaboración de la propuesta metodológica expone como resultado un modelo de evaluación constituido por cuatro componentes inherentes al proyecto turístico que se requiere evaluar y que tienen relación con: (1) ámbito socio–cultural, (2) ámbito económico–financiero, (3) ámbito ambiental y (4) potencial turístico. Se identifica indicadores que a través de la valorización de cada uno de los componentes se demuestra la viabilidad o no de ejecutar el proyecto turístico comunitario.es-ES
