dc.descriptionThis article aims to analyze the growth of Mexico's tourism activity through basic variables such as the annual average growth rate, the total revenue generated by tourism, the contribution of the tourism subsector to the tertiary sector, the gross tourist value added, tourism employment and the composition of tourism GDP.Tourism in Mexico is one of the main generators of foreign exchange that, in 2018, was located only after remittances and before the export of hydrocarbons. In the last 10 years alone, these increased by 185%, amounting to US $11.5 billon ; In addition, the arrival of tourists has also doubled (204%) over the same years to 19.3 million; and as a result, the tourism sector grows at an average annual rate of 2.9%, which is 0.6% higher than the average growth rate of the national economy which is 2.3%.In methodological terms, the analysis of the dynamics and evolution of the growth of the sector, is structured under a logical-deductive and descriptive view based on the choice of basic variables selected and systematized by the National Institute Statistics and Geography (INEGI).The content is distributed in four sections; the first addresses the theoretical aspects from the perspective of the tourism economy; the second sets out the results of the analysis of the most relevant general variables; In the third, some inferences are made based on the most relevant macro variables with an emphasis on the importance of public policies aimed at tourism and, finally, some conclusions are presented.en-US
dc.descriptionEste artículo tiene como objetivo analizar el crecimiento de la actividad turística de México a través de variables como la tasa de crecimiento, ingresos totales del turismo, aporte del turismo al sector terciario, valor agregado bruto turístico, empleo turístico y composición del PIB turístico.El turismo en México es uno de los principales generadores de divisas que, en el año 2018 se ubicó sólo después de las remesas y antes de la exportación de hidrocarburos. Tan solo en los últimos 10 años, éstas se incrementaron en un 185%, ascendiendo a 11.5 mil millones de dólares; además, también se han duplicado la llegada de turistas (204%) en los mismos años hasta llegar a los 19.3 millones; y como consecuencia, el sector turismo crece a una tasa promedio anual de 2.9%, que es un 0.6% superior que la tasa de crecimiento promedio de la economía nacional que es de 2.3%.En términos metodológicos, el análisis de la dinámica y evolución del crecimiento del sector se estructura bajo una mirada lógico-deductiva y de carácter descriptivo con base en la elección de variables básicas seleccionadas y sistematizadas por el Instituto Nacional de Estadística y Geografía (INEGI). El contenido se distribuye en cuatro apartados; en el primero se abordan los aspectos teóricos desde la perspectiva de la economía del turismo; en el segundo se exponen los resultados del análisis de las variables generales más relevantes; en el tercero se hacen algunas inferencias fundadas en las variables macro más relevantes con énfasis en la importancia de las políticas públicas dirigidas al turismo y, finalmente, se exponen algunas conclusiones.es-ES
