The aim of this article is to reflect on the use of the concept of gender discourse to refer to criminal sentences that dictate Courts of Chilean Oral Trial. We examine how fixed, reproduce and transmit legal knowledge in the chilean legal community, what are the characteristics of these texts and makes visible the 'genericpotential structure' of the text (PEG).El objetivo de este artículo es reflexionar sobre el uso del concepto de género discursivo para referirse a las sentencias judiciales penales dictadas por los Tribunales de Juicio Oral chilenos. Para ello se analiza cómo se fija, reproduce y transmiten los conocimientos especializados en la comunidad jurídica chilena, cuáles son las particularidades de las sentencias en tanto textos y se visibiliza el 'potencial de estructura genérica' del texto (generic potential structure, PEG).
