This paper examines the implications of a linguistic micro-analysis on the study of narrative texts. The corpus analysed is a short story written by the Argentinian writer Manuel Puig. First, some of the most outstanding formal and functional linguistic paradigms are revised, within the framework of Discourse Analysis trends, both as theory and method. On this basis, the analysis has focused on the following pivots: narrative procedures, organization of ideas –thematization and rhematization phenomena–, intertextuality, topical frameworks, and stylistic devices used in text construction. The ultimate objective is to establish the convergence of both perspectives in the study of literary texts, which will allow for the discovery of multiple semantic, pragmatic and discursive aspects. Likewise, the active role of the reader is highlighted, through the analysis of the linguistic traces that invite him to get involved, participate, reconstruct and co-construct the text.El presente artículo pretende mostrar cómo un microanálisis lingüístico puede constituir una herramienta metodológicamente útil en el abordaje de textos narrativos. El corpus de trabajo es un cuento corto del autor argentino Manuel Puig. En primer lugar, se revisan algunos paradigmas formales y funcionales, en el marco de la corriente de Análisis del discurso como teoría y como método. Sobre esta base, se aborda el análisis, teniendo en cuenta los siguientes ejes: los procedimientos narrativos utilizados por el autor, la organización jerárquica de la información –tematización y rematización–, la intertextualidad, las redes topicales y los recursos estilísticos utilizados en la generación y articulación del texto. El fin último es establecer una conjunción de perspectivas formales y funcionales que, en el análisis de textos ficcionales, permite ahondar en múltiples aspectos semánticos, pragmáticos y discursivos. Además, se destaca el rol activo del procesador de textos escritos –el lector– y las marcas lingüísticas que lo invitan a involucrarse, participar activamente, reconstruir y co-construir el texto.
