Elena Poniatowska's literary work has an unquestionable autobiographical character, evident in her testimonial novels (Until I Can See your Eyes, My Lord), epistolary works (Dear Diego), historical biographies (Tinisima), or autobiographical fiction (La Flor de Lis). Nevertheless, the latter, rather than placing itself in the classical canon, presents a discoursivity that responds to the feminine autobiographical model. In this manner, this novel not only contributes in profiling the discourse ontological differences that separate the two traditions, but also implements a process of definition that chooses a distance from the authority of Latin American aesthetic-literary discourse, such as Modernismo.El trabajo literario de Elena Poniatowska posee un innegable carácter autobiográfico, ya sea en sus novelas testimoniales (Hasta moverte, Jesús mío), epistolares (Querido Diego, te abraza Quiela), biográfico-históricas (Tinísima) o ficción autobiográfica (La Flor de Lis). Sin embargo, esta última, más que situarse en el canon clásico, exhibe una discursividad que responde al modelo autobiográfico femenino. De este modo, esta novela no sólo contribuye a perfilar las diferencias discursivo-ontológicas que separan a ambas tradiciones, sino que, sobre todo, en su proceso de definición elige como referente de distanciamiento la autoridad de discursos estético-literarios latinoamericanos, como es el caso del Modernismo.
