| dc.description | The study of the Spanish intonation system has received uneven but increasing attention since Navarro Tomás' publication of his Manual in 1944. Nevertheless, little has been published on the intonational characteristics of the different Spanish accents. Using Jakobson's framework, we try to describe the main intonation features of Murcian Spanish from a purely functional perspective, an accent spoken in Southeastern Spain. Results show that there is a marked tendency towards a narrow pitch range use. The different attitudinal meanings are reflected in the tonal heads, where falling and stepping movements are frequent. It seems to be a typical feature of this accent the recourse to suspensive or slightly ascending or descending tones, particularly in cases where acquiescence or explanations are used with illocutionary force. It is particularly striking, for it goes against standard Spanish practices, the use of a descending low tone in indirect questions as response to a pronominal question of a yes/no type. | en-US |
| dc.description | El estudio del sistema entonativo del español ha sido objeto de una actividad investigadora desigual aunque creciente desde que Navarro Tomás publicara su Manual en 1944. Sin embargo, poco se ha publicado sobre la caracterización entonativa de los distintos acentos que componen el español. Partiendo del esquema jakobsoniano, estudiamos en este trabajo los rasgos fundamentales entonativos del murciano, acento del sudeste de España, desde una perspectiva netamente funcionalista. Los resultados apuntan a una marcada tendencia a una fluctuación que se mueve en una gama tonal básicamente estrecha. Las distintas facetas actitudinales se ponen de manifiesto en las cabezas tonales, donde se favorecen sobre todo los movimientos descendentes y sostenidos. Igualmente, parece ser rasgo típico de este acento el tono sostenido nuclear o con escasa variación ascendente o descendente, sobre todo con valor ilocutivo de condescendencia o explicación. Resulta altamente llamativo, por ser rasgo atípico del español normativo, el tono descendente bajo utilizado en preguntas indirectas como respuesta a una pregunta pronominal de respuesta sí/no. | es-ES |
