dc.descriptionThe present article evidences the relationship between social capital and economicdevelopment in the construction, promotion and consolidation of touristactivity in the Andean community of Yunguilla, located northwest of Quito, capitalof Ecuador, in the middle of the cloud forest characterized by its high biodiversityfor being part of the Andean Chocó. The research pays special attentionto the benefits obtained in the community by promoting its interests and its ramifications,beyond the traditional agricultural and livestock vocation, towards thecommunity tourist field, as an activity that has allowed the improvement of livingconditions of its inhabitants and the increase in their income. The research carriedout, in the first instance, a theoretical review of the concept of social capital andthe binding principles of community based on figures such as trust, cooperativelogics and reciprocity to demonstrate the economic effects on the diversificationof productive activities and their direct relationship with the community tourismand, in a second instance, the results registered by the community were evaluatedbeyond the phenomena linked to a development model based on an activity thatalso faces problems such as limitations for its sustainability and appropriation bythe visitor receiving communities. There is a path and a way of life to replicatefrom the heart of Ecuador.en-US
dc.descriptionEl presente artículo evidencia la relación existente entre capital social y desarrolloeconómico en la construcción, promoción y consolidación de la actividadturística en la comunidad andina de Yunguilla, ubicada al noroccidente de Quito,capital de Ecuador, en medio del bosque nublado que se caracteriza por su altabiodiversidad por ser parte del Chocó Andino. La investigación presta especialatención a los beneficios obtenidos en la comunidad por el fomento de sus interesesy sus ramificaciones, más allá de la tradicional vocación agropecuaria,hacia el campo turístico comunitario, en tanto una actividad que ha permitido lamejora de las condiciones de vida de sus pobladores y el incremento de sus ingresos.La investigación realizó en, una primera instancia, una revisión teórica delconcepto de capital social y los principios vinculantes de comunidad basados enfiguras como la confianza, lógicas cooperativas y reciprocidad para evidenciar losefectos económicos en la diversificación de actividades productivas y su relacióndirecta con el turismo comunitario y, en una segunda instancia, se evaluaron losresultados registrados por la comunidad más allá de los fenómenos vinculadoscon un modelo desarrollo basado en una actividad que enfrenta igualmente problemascomo las limitaciones para su sostenibilidad y apropiación por parte delas comunidades receptoras de visitantes. Hay un trayecto y una forma de vidapara replicar desde el corazón del Ecuador.es-ES
