This article describes the “world of copper”, that is to say the time span when the world copper trade was under the hegemony of the swansea founders. It does, therefore, in the first place it establishes the times of boom and decadence of the “world of copper”. Secondly, it describes and analyses the structure of the welsh copper enterprises and finally it accounts for the sailing routes and migratory processes that made it possible.El objetivo de este artículo es contextualizar el denominado Mundo del Cobre, período de expansión e intercambio de la industria cuprífera mundial bajo la hegemonía de Swansea. Se pretende, por lo tanto, en primer lugar, situar temporalmente el período de auge y decadencia del mundo del Cobre. En segundo lugar, se describirá las formas de organización que adquirieron las empresas de explotación cuprífera y, en tercer lugar, se señalará la importancia del movimiento humano y rutas que estimuló la expansión del Mundo del Cobre.
