This article explores the construction of national representations during the Chilean Popular Front, focusing on the uses of geographic and spatial references. The Popular Front was a political project opposed to the traditional ruling oligarchy, but together with that idea of novelty, which strengthened the popular notions of national identity, other elements remained, that addressed to national cohesion. National geography and landscapes were among those referents. With this perspective, the paper questions the objective character of the territory, analyzes the role that landscape can play in nation-building processes, and how communities subjectively appropriate and give social meaning to spatiality.Este artículo indaga sobre la construcción de representaciones de la nación durante el Frente Popular chileno, con énfasis en el uso de los referentes geográficos y espaciales. El Frente Popular era un proyecto político que se contraponía a la tradicional oligarquía dominante, pero junto con aquella idea de novedad que fortalecía las nociones populares de la identidad nacional, permanecieron otros elementos que apuntaban a la cohesión nacional. Entre ellos se encontraba la geografía y los paisajes del país. Con esta perspectiva, se cuestiona el carácter objetivo del territorio, se analiza el rol que puede cumplir el paisaje en los procesos de construcción nacional, y cómo las colectividades se apropian subjetivamente y le dan contenido social a la espacialidad.
