| dc.description | In The Order of Things, Foucault shows that the main function of heterotopia is to impede the reference of words to things. A contradiction is evident in the inclusion of the libraryin the heterotopia in “Other Spaces”: there is no better place to investigate and produce knowledge than a library. We analyze Borges’ “The Library of Babel” from the concept of heterotopy, in order to resolve the exact relationship between library, space, and knowledge, and its link with Foucault’s archive concept. Finally, we return to Foucault’s “Language to Infinity,” whose commentary on “The Library of Babel” exposes an effective heterotopy formed by a mise in abyme of language. | en-US |
| dc.description | En Las palabras y las cosas, Foucault señala que la función principal de la heterotopía consiste en impedir la referencia de las palabras a las cosas. Se hace patente entonces una suerte de contradicción en la inclusión de la biblioteca dentro de las heterotopías en “Espacios diferentes”, pues no existe un lugar mejor que la biblioteca para investigar y producir conocimiento. En este artículo analizamos “La biblioteca de Babel” de Borges desde el concepto de heterotopía, para resolver la relación exacta entre biblioteca, espacio y conocimiento, así como su relación con el concepto de archivo de Foucault. Por último, volvemos sobre “El lenguaje al infinito” del mismo Foucault, en que ofrece un comentario de “La biblioteca de Babel” que expone una heterotopía efectiva, formada por una mise in abyme del lenguaje. | es-ES |
