dc.description	The present essay aims to investigate the link established between culture and nature in two novels by Joseph Conrad: Heart of Darkness (1902) and Nostromo (1904). Our interest resides in the possibility of understanding this link starting from the idea of the uncanny (das unheimliche) that Sigmund Freud developed in 1919. The uncanny consists in the unexpected return of the suppressed, a return that Conrad managed to masterfully understand in these novels, anticipating Freud.	en-US
dc.description	El presente ensayo tiene por objetivo indagar en el vínculo que se establece entre cultura y naturaleza en dos novelas de Joseph Conrad, El corazón de las tinieblas (1902) y Nostromo (1904). Nuestro interés reside en la posibilidad de comprender tal vínculo a partir de la idea de lo ominoso (das unheimliche) que Sigmund Freud desarrollara en 1919. Lo ominoso consiste en el retorno inesperado de lo reprimido, retorno que Conrad logró comprender magistralmente en las novelas señaladas, con bastante antelación a Freud.	es-ES
