dc.descriptionOne sees emerging within the recovering Latin American Baroque the deformation of the cultural dialectic by which colonialism and dependency are perceived as a bipolar narrative, or a given, established relationship betweenthe body and the spirit of capitalism. As a critique of the moral, or individualism, the interrogation of Latin American Baroque allows one to examine eroticism as an expression of the material constellations and functions of the body running and crossing established divisions between nature and culture. The relationship in between the essay and the baroque become very particular; it shows the exhaustion of the essay as an instrument of transculturization and a discourse of ‘mestizo’ formations. We might say that the rediscovery of the link between the baroque and the essay begins with ways of looking at the body and eroticism as an alternative to the Weberian critique of modern disenchantment and the primacy given to the spirit of capitalism.en-US
dc.descriptionLo que va a emerger con la recuperación del Barroco Latinoamericano es la desfiguración de la dialéctica cultural con que se percibe la relación entre el colonialismo y la dependencia como una relación dada entre el cuerpo y el espíritu del capitalismo, vistos en términos de una narrativa de la bipolaridad. Ya sea como una crítica a la moral, o al individualismo, el barroco va a ir habilitando un cuestionamiento a los sentidos del erotismo como una expresión en que se interrogan las funciones del cuerpo y las constelaciones materiales que atraviesan y recorren las divisiones entre cultura y naturaleza. El problema para reconocer el sentido del ensayo y el barroco latinoamericanos es en este sentido particular: se trata de su agotamiento como instrumento de la transculturación y de su orientación como un discurso del mestizaje. Podemos decir que la rehabilitación del vínculo entre el barroco y el ensayo arranca del modo con que se aprecian las relaciones entre el cuerpo y el erotismo como una contrapartida a la lectura weberiana del desencantamiento moderno y la primacía concedida al espíritu del capitalismo.es-ES
