| dc.description | Se desarrolló y evaluó en forma preliminar un sistema multimedial diseñado para apoyar la enseñanza de la lectoescritura de niños ciegos, cuyo principal propósito es superar las dificultades debidas a la falta de motivación y a la dificultad que implica la inversión espacial entre lectura y escritura en el código Braille. El sistema se aplicó a una muestra de 14 niños de dos escuelas de ciegos de Santiago. Los resultados permiten afirmar que el sistema incide sobre algunas destrezas lectoras específicas y sobre la motivación y atención de los niños en el proceso lector. Además, las educadoras evaluaron positivamente el proceso de enseñanza asistido por computador, considerándolo más ágil y eficiente que el tradicional. Las principales dificultades fueron: escaso conocimiento de las potencialidades del sistema por parte de las educadoras; la interfaz poco clara para la educadora y la falta de planificación de las sesiones individuales. Se sugieren algunas líneas de acción a seguir para optimizar el sistema. | es-ES |
| dc.description | A multimedial system developed to support teaching of reading and writing in visually handicapped children is presented. The purpose of the method is to overcome some obstacles in the reading and writing learning process in visually handicapped children, mainly those due to lack of motivation and to difficulties associated to spatial inversion in Braille writing. The system was preliminary tested in 14 subjects from two blind children schools from Santiago. Results indicate that the system has an effect over the acquisition of some specific reading skills, and enhances children attention and motivation in the reading process. Also, teacher evaluated the computer assisted teaching process as more effective and faster than the traditional method. The main difficulties found were: teachers’ limited knowledge about the system potential; the system characteristics are not user-friendly for teachers; and lack of planning of individual sessions.
