dc.description	E I presente artículo intenta dirimir en el dominio de la inducción la controversia de si los procesos de razonmniento humano se reducen a procesos cognitivos sintácticos de bajo nivel (e .g., cálculos de similitud) oreflejan procesos cognitivos semánticos y pragmáticos dc alto nivel (e.g ., evaluación de hipótesis). Para ello se contrastaron las predicciones opuestas del Modelo de Similitud y Cobertura (Osherson, Smith, Wilkie, Lopez & Shafir, 1990) y del Modelo de Evaluaci6n de Hip6tesis (McDonald, Samuels & Rispoli , 1996) sobre la solidez relativa dc distintos argumentos inductivos. La evidencia empírica obtenida sugiere que esta controversia es aparente y que los procesos de razonamiento humano representan tanto procesos cognitivos sintácticos de bajo nivel como procesos cognitivos semánticos y pragmáticos de alto nivel.	es-ES
dc.description	The article attempts to settle in the domain of induction the controversy of whether human reasoning processes reduce to low-level syntactic cognitive processes (e.g., similarity computations) or reflect high-level semantic and pragmatic cognitive processes (e.g., hypotheses assessment). To this end, the opposite predictions of the Similarity-Coverage Model (Osherson, Smith, Wilkie, López & Shafir, 1990) and the Hypothesis Assessment Model (McDonald, Samuels, & Rispoli, 1996) about the relative strength of different inductive arguments were contrasted. The obtained empirical evidence suggests that this controversy is apparent and that human reasoning processes represent both low-level syntactic cognitive processes and high-level semantic and pragmatic cognitive processes.	en-US
