El presente artículo entrega los resultados de un estudio realizado en las escuelas municipales de la comuna de Cañete, VIII región Chile, respecto a las necesidades en el contexto familiar desde la perspectiva de los niños.Dicho estudio se realizó en el contexto de un programa de capacitación de profesores, en el área del desarrollo afectivo, con el objetivo de entregarles una herramienta que les facilitara la tarea de conocer a sus alumnos, recoger información, analizarla en forma sistemática y formular estrategias de intervención a partir de ella.Los resultados encontrados apuntan a destacar el peso que tiene la etapa de desarrollo en que se encuentra el alumno, en la presencia y forma en que se expresan los diferentes tipos de necesidades. La valiosa información recogida y la movilización de los profesores a partir de ella, apoyan la relevancia de que al capacitar profesores, especialmente a los que atienden a sectores más desventajados, se otorgue un espacio significativo a la entrega de conocimientos en el área del desarrollo de la afectividad. La evidencia que apunta a señalar la relación que existe entre desarrollo afectivo, autoestima, resilencia y desempeño escolar, hacen de esta línea de trabajo un aporte en el esfuerzo por mejorar la calidad de la educación.This article presents the results of a study made in the municipal schools of the county of Cañete, VIII Región – Chile, in reference of the needs existing in the families, as perceived by the children. The study was undertaken in the context of a program of teacher’s training in affective development in order to give them a tool for a better knowledge of their students, to gather information, a systematic analysis of it, and, formulate intervention strategies from it. Findings show that at this stage of development of the students, the presence and form taken by the different types of needs have a notorious weigh. The valuable information collected and the answer of the teachers to it, support the importance of training teachers, specially those that work in the low income areas, in the area of affective development. This evidence, pointing out the existing relation between affective development, resiliency and scholar development, makes this working methodology a contribution to reach a better quality in education.
