| dc.description | Aunque la diferencia entre categorizaciones funcionales y perceptuales es ampliamente reconocida, la mayor parte de las teorías actuales acerca de los procesos de categorización no consideran que esta distinción implique diferencias en la representación y procesamiento de cada uno de estos tipos de categorías. Se revisan algunas diferencias que sí han sido investigadas (tanto desde un punto de vista teórico como empírico), y se propone que existen diferencias de representación y procesamiento que permiten predecir que se encontrará un menor nivel de acuerdo intersujetos en categorizaciones funcionales comparadas con las perceptuales. Se diseñó un procedimiento que permitió distinguir confiablemente entre ambos tipos de categorizaciones. Como se esperaba, se encontraron diferencias significativas en el grado de acuerdo intersujetos. Finalmente, se discuten algunas explicaciones alternativas para los resultados encontrados. | es-ES |
| dc.description | Even thought the difference between functional and perceptual categorization is widely accepted, most current theories don’t seem to extend this distinction to process and representation issues. Some differences that have been investigated (both from theoretical and empirical points of view) are reviewed, and the idea is put forward that there are process and representation differences that allow us to predict a lower level of intersubject agreement for functional as compares to perceptual categorizations. A procedure was designed that allowed to reliably distinguish between each type of categorization. As expected, there were significant differences in intersubject agreement level. Some alternative explanation for our results are discussed. | en-US |
