The concern for education has turned teachers’ training into a strategic point of transformation, from which the improvement of educational quality would be achieved. The objective of this study is to obtain hypothesis about the psychological preparation that is necessary for prospective teachers, from their understanding of their pedagogic practice. The methodology used is of qualitative type. The main topics discussed by the teachers refer to strengths and weaknesses of their education, difficulties when starting their practice, consequences of their work as teachers, macro context and performance, meaning of education and pedagogic work, proposals about their initial psychological, and work related issues. The proposal that teachers make on the psychology subject, and starting from it to educational training in general, is that educational theories should be linked to the reality of the school, specifically, that the subject should be a support to stablish collaborative relationships with the other educational actors.La preocupación por la educación ha convertido a la formación de los profesores en un punto estratégico de transformación, a partir del cual, se lograría el mejoramiento de la calidad educativa. El objetivo de esta investigación es obtener hipótesis acerca de la formación psicológica que es necesaria para los futuros maestros, desde la comprensión que eloos hacen de su práctiva pedagógica. La metodología utilizada para el estudio es de tipo cualitativa. Los principales temas discutidos por los profesores se refieren a fortalezas y debilidades de la formación inicial, dificultades al llegar a la práctica, consecuencias del ejercicio docente, marco contexto de desempeño, micro contexto de desempeño, significados sobre educación y trabajo pedagógico, propuestas de los profesores sobre su formación inicial, psicológica y sobre aspectos laborales. La propuesta que los profesores hacen sobre la asignatura de psicología y a partir de ella a la formación docente en general, es que las teorías educativas se vinculen con la realidad escolar, específicamente, que la asignatura sea un apoyo para establecer relaciones de colaboración con los demás actores educativos.
