| dc.description | This is an exploratory study that describes high school students’ perception of school violence. A questionnaire was administered to 584 students from all high school grade levels in Santiago, showing a great number of violent events and situations perceived by a large number of students. Differences were found in perceptions of school violence by grade level and gender, showing less violence among older students, and more violence in males than females. No relationship was observed between the perception of violence and the perception of alcohol and drug use, on the one hand, or academic achievement and discipline, on the other. | en-US |
| dc.description | Este es un estudio exploratorio que describe la percepción de violencia escolar que tienen los jóvenes de enseñanza media. Se aplicó un cuestionario a 584 estudiantes de 1° a 4° medio a Santiago, y se observó que existe un gran número de eventos y situaciones violentas percibidas por muchos estudiantes. Se encontraron diferencias en la percepción de violencia escolar por curso y sexo, mostrando que a medida que aumenta la edad disminuye la violencia, y que los hombres son más violencia que las mujeres. No se vio relación entre la percepción de violencia y la percepción de consumo de alcohol y drogas, por una parte, ni de la de rendimiento escolar y de disciplina, por la otra parte. | es-ES |
