The concept of feedback is reviewed in reference to learning and to behavior change. Any event has a feedback function for a person when it derives from his/her own behavior and it has a meaning within his/her cognitive – emotional dynamics, and it facilitates behavior change or stabilization. The cognitive-emotional system interacts with, and is affected by, the environment, but it is not controlled by external events. This implies that to understand the behavior of any individual, it is necessary to take into account his/her own cognitive-emotional dynamics. The more knowledge the teacher has about students’ interests and goals, the more likely it is that the students attend and understand the teacher’s remarks, and that they assign them personal meanings.Se revisa el uso del concepto de retroalimentación al referirse al aprendizaje y al cambio de comportamiento. Un evento es retroalimentación cuando deriva de un comportamiento del sujeto y posee significado dentro de su dinámica cognitiva emocional, facilitando un cambio o una estabilización en su comportamiento. El sistema cognitivo-emocional interactúa con el medio y es afectado por éste: pero, no es controlado externamente. Esto significa que para comprender el comportamiento del individuo es necesario tomar como referencia su propia dinámica cognitiva emocional. El conocimiento que posee el profesor acerca de los intereses y metas de los alumnos posibilita que sus comentarios tengan mayor probabilidad de que los alumnos los atiendan, entiendan y pueden darle significados personales.
