| dc.description | This paper essays an interpretation of personal and collective memory as a result of the symbolic function that makes temporal segmentation and the constitution of abstract permanent objects possible simultaneously. Memory, and acts of remembering and forgetting, are understood as interwoven through personal and collective activities mediated by cultural artefacts for communication and for the coding of experiences, among whose functions is that of fixing personal and collective identities. Concepts such as collective memory, history and social representations of the past are discussed in connection with the narrative character of identity memories and with the role of affect in cultural symbols and in personal and collective acts of remembering. Conclusions reflect on the cultural wealth provided by diverging discourses on the past, at the same that the need for a current negotiated interpretation about the past in order to prepare for a shared future is emphasised. | en-US |
| dc.description | Este artículo ensaya una interpretación de la memoria personal y colectiva entendida como resultado de la actividad simbólica y de su capacidad de constiuir simultáneamente objetos abstractos permanentes y una ordenación temporal. La memoria, y los actos del recuerdo y del olvido, se entienden como profundamente entrelazados con la actividad personal y colectiva a través de artefactos culturales para la comunicación y la codificación de la experiencia, una de cuyas funciones es fijar la identidad personal y colectiva. Se discuten los conceptos de memoria colectiva, historia y representaciones sociales del pasado, poniéndolos en relación con el carácter narrativo del recuerdo identitario y con el carácter afectivo de los símbolos culturales y del recuerdo. Se concluye con una reflexión sobre la riqueza que suponen los discursos divergentes sobre el pasado, al mismo tiempo que se defiende la necesidad de negociar las interpretaciones presentes sobre el pasado para preparar un futuro compartido. | es-ES |
