| dc.description | This article presents the results of a qualitative study on the expectations and interests of potential beneficiaries of the Program PENTA-UC –an extracurricular enrichment program of academically talented children and youth – with respect to the topic and characteristics of the program. 43 focus groups with a total of 400 students identified as potential academic talents, their parents, teachers and school directors of the communes of La Florida and Puente Alto were conducted. The results allow access to their social representations concerning the characteristics of academically talented children and youth, as well as their fears and expectations concerning their education. Data is contrasted with existing literature, finding similarities between these social representation and theoretical definitions, as well as between fears and expectations and myths and stereotypes about education for academically talented students. | dc.description | Este artículo presenta los resultados de un estudio de carácter cualitativo cuyo objetivo fue conocer las representaciones sociales de potenciales usuarios del Programa PENTA-UC -un programa educacional de enriquecimiento extracirricular dirigido a niños y jóvenes con talento académico- respecto a la temática y sus expectativas e intereses respecto al programa. Se realizaron 43 grupos focales con un total de 400 estudiantes identificados como potenciales talentos académicos, sus padres, profesores y directores en 11 establecimientos educacionales municipales de las comunas de La Florida y Puente Alto. Los resultados permiten aceder a sus representaciones respecto a las características de niños y jóvenes con talento académico y a los temores y expectativas en torno a su educación. Los datos son contrastados con literatura existente, encontrándose similitudes entre definiciones teóricas y representaciones sociales, así como en cuanto a los principales mitos y esterotipos respecto a programas educacionales que desarrollen el talento académico de niños y jóvenes. Los resultados de este estudio, enédito en el país, contribuirán a la realización de futuras líneas de acción e investigación en el país en torno al tema. | es-ES |
