| dc.description | A study was carried out in Santiago, Chile, with 16 elementary school teachers, in order to identify the elements involved in their social representation (SR) of education. A qualitative approach was used, based on individual and group interviews, using Glasser and Strauss’s Grounded Theory (1987) for data analysis. The evidence shows that the construction of SR by these teachers involves personal and contextual factors; the most significant aspects were teacher’s professional training and his/her personal view of education, on one hand, and parental unconcern regarding children’s education, as perceived by the teachers, on the other. These factors are structured around a central axis, which refers to the idea of personal development, on which teacher’s concept of education is based. | en-US |
| dc.description | Se ralizó una investigación con 16 profesores de Enseñanza Básica de colegios municipalizados de Santiago, para estudiar cómo conformaban su Representación Social de la Educación (RS). Se utilizó una metodología de Glasser y Strauss (1987) para analizar la información. Se encontraron elementos personales y contextuales que estructuraban la RS de estos profesores, donde los aspectos más significativos fueron, por un lado, la formación profesional del docente y su visión personal de la educación, y por otro, la despreocupación de los padres por la educación de sus hijos, percibida por los profesores. Estos elementos se estructurarían en torno a un eje central que basaría la concepción de educación, siendo este elemento central, la idea de formación personal. | es-ES |
