A revision of the results published in the foreign literature about the incremental validily of the MMPI-2 is done. These results are contrasted with the evidence gathered in Chile in the standardization and validation process of the MMPI-2. The MMPI-2 maintains unaltered its internal structure with respect to the functioning of the traditional validity and clinical scales, so allowing a smooth transition from the MMPI to the MMPI-2. With respect to the incremental contribution of the new MMIP1-2 content scales, the results are promising, allhough not yet conclusive. It is expected that new studies will contribute with further evidence, in order to answer this crucial question.Se hace una revisión de los resultados reportados en la literatura extranjera en relación a la validez incremental del MMPI-2. Se contrastan dichos resultados con los obtenidos en Chile en el proceso de estandarización y validación de la psicotecnología. Se concluye que el MMPI-2 mantiene intacta su estructura interna, en 10 relativo a las escalas de validez y clínicas tradicionales, permitiendo una transición fluida desde el MMPI al MMPI-2. Con respecto al aporte incremental de las 15 nuevas escalas de conteniclo del inventario, en su tarea de evaluar personalidad, la evidencia es promisoria, aunque aún no concluyente. Se espera que futuros estudios entreguen mayores datos para dilucidar este tópico crucial.
