| dc.description | In postpartum depression (PPD) the main etiologic factors seem to be in the psychosocial domain. Some authors state that in Occident PPD is the result of the loss of ritual cultural processes during this period, even though the few available studies do not reveal major differences in rates of PPD across countries. The transcultural approach allows the assessment of the etiologic role of social and cultural factors and the study of their influence on the mother and neonate psychopathology. Nevertheless, more comparative studies which combine flexible ethnographic observations with the application of systematic standarized procedures are needed. | en-US |

Algunos autores plantean que en occidente la DPP sería el resultado del abandono de procesos culturales de ritualizacion de este período, aun cuando los escasos trabajos disponibles no revelan mayores diferencias en las tasas de DPP detectada en diversos países. El enfoque transcultural permite evaluar el rol etiológico de los factores sociales y culturales y analizar su influencia en la psicopatología materna y del neonato, pero se requieren mas investigaciones comparativas que combinen el uso de descripciones etnográficas flexibles con la aplicaci6n sistemática de procedimientos estandarizados de evaluación. | es-ES |
