| dc.description | The article attempts to approach the complex and critica[ current situation of the Chilean educational system as a whole from a particular psychosocial perspective: it propases a reduction of the educational crisis to a problem formulated in terms of social representations.Based on the review of some relevant aspects of the Chilean educational system history, the authors formulate an hypothesis about the historical formation of a contradiction between two social representations of education, that would generate the crisis.
