Factors Related Treatment Adherence in AIDS Patients of the Bío Bío Region

| dc.description | Psychological, familiar and demographic factors as well as those related to the discase, treatment and health team in relation to the conduct of adherence to pharmacological treatmcnt of 31 HIV/AIDS patients in anti-retroviral treatment were studied in 3 of the 4 public health services of the Region of Bío Bío, Chile. Relatively Iow levels of adherence were found in the sample studied. Using nolÞparametric analysis, it was concluded that depression, numbcr of discases associated with the HIV/AIDS condition and particularly the levels of communication with the health team with respect to opportunities for paflicipating in decision-making referred to the treatment, are related to the conduct of adherence. These findings reaffirm the importance of the role of the psychologists in various levels of health actions. | en-US |
| dc.description | Se estudiaron factores psicológicos, familiares, demográficos, relativos a la enfermedad, al tratamiento y al equipo de salud asociados con la conducta de adherencia al tratamiento farmacológico en 31 enfermos de VIH/SIDA en tratamiento antirretroviral en 3 de los 4 servicios públicos de salud de la Región del Bío Bío, Chile. Se encontraron niveles relativamente bajos de adherencia en la muestra estudiada. A través de la utilización de análisis no paramétricos, se estableció que la depresión, el número de enfermedades asociadas a la condición VIH/SIDA y, especialmente, el nivel de comunicación con el equipo de salud en IO relativo al espacio que éste otorga para la participación en la toma de decisiones con relación al tratamiento, se relacionan con la conducta dc adherencia. LO anterior reafirma la importancia del rol de los psicólogos en diferentes niveles de la acción en salud. | es-ES |
