The main objective of this study was to describe socio-demographic and laboral characteristics of social workers of Servicio Nacional de Menores of the Metropolitan Region of Chile, and to establish whether there is a relationship between them and the Burnout Syndrome. In order to do this, a survey was applied to (65) social workers, ranging from 23 to 65 years old from 20 institutions belonging to the Servicio Nacional de Menores in the Metropolitan Region. From the results obtained, a profile of the social workcr who developed the Burnout Syndrome was established and intitutional measures were proposed.El objetivo central del estudio que se presenta fue describir las características sociodemográficas y laborales de asistentes sociales del Servicio Nacional de Menores de la Región Metropolitana y establecer su posible relación con el Síndrome de Burnout, Para ello, se encuestó a 65 de los asistentes sociales de entre 23 a 65 años en 20 instituciones del Servicio Nacional de Menores de la Región Metropolitana. A partir de los resultados obtenidos, se estableció un perfil del asistente social que desarrolla el Síndrome de Burnout, y se propusieron medidas institucionales.
