The paper describes some elements of the political crisis that led to the dictatorship (1973- 1990) and to human rights violations in Chile. It refers to the legal defense and the clinical and psychosocial care for victims and their families as expressions of moral, professional, and citizen resistance. It summarizes the policies of the post-1990 transition governments regarding truth and reparation for victims, and considers the issues of justice and social memory. Finally, the text highlights some of the conclusions of the articles included in this special issue, collecting the academic efforts to reflect and analyze the problems of the social and individual memory of human rights violations, reparation, and political reconciliation from the perceptions of different social groups.El artículo describe algunos elementos de la crisis política que derivó en la dictadura (1973- 1990) y en las violaciones de derechos humanos en Chile. Se hace referencia a la defensa legal y a la atención clínica y psicosocial de las víctimas y sus familias como expresiones de resistencia moral, profesional y ciudadana. Se resumen las políticas de verdad y reparación de los gobiernos de la transición a la democracia después de 1990, así como los procesos de justicia y memoria social. Finalmente, se destacan algunas de las conclusiones de los artículos incluidos en este número especial, recogiendo los esfuerzos académicos de reflexión y análisis sobre la memoria individual y social de las violaciones de derechos humanos, la reparación y la reconciliación política desde las percepciones de los distintos grupos sociales investigados.
