dc.descriptionTourism has the production method of adapting the territory with infrastruc-ture and tourist services. This process leads to questioning how the relationship between tourism and urban sprawl changes coverage and land use. This article aims to analyze the relationship between tourism and urban expansion based on changes in land use and land cover in Gramado, Brazil, from 1996 to 2018. For this purpose, satellite images were acquired, that after the generation of the poly-gons, they resulted in a time series with quantitative information on the classes of coverage and land use throughout the decades. The interpretation of the data set collected from the bibliographic, documentary research and the observation in situ allowed to analyze the urban expansion in Gramado. The results show the progress of the class of area built mainly in the class of native vegetation vec-torized by the tourist infrastructure installation. In this context, it is possible to understand that there is a relationship between tourism and urban expansion that develops by changing coverage and land use. en-US
dc.descriptionEl turismo tiene el método de producción de adaptar el territorio con infraes-tructura y servicios turísticos. Un proceso que lleva a preguntas sobre cómo la relación entre el turismo y la expansión urbana cambia la cobertura y el uso del suelo. Este artículo tiene como objetivo analizar la relación entre el turismo y la expansión urbana en función de los cambios en el uso del suelo y la cobertura del suelo en Gramado, Brasil, de 1996 a 2018. Para este propósito, se adquirieron imágenes de satélite, que después de la generación de los polígonos resultaron en una serie temporal con información cuantitativa sobre las clases de cobertura y uso del suelo a lo largo de las décadas. La interpretación del conjunto de datos recopilados de la investigación bibliográfica, documental y la observación in situ permitió analizar la expansión urbana en Gramado. Los resultados muestran el progreso de la clase de área construida principalmente en la clase de vegetación nativa vectorizada por la instalación de infraestructura turística. En este contexto, es posible entender que existe una relación entre el turismo y la expansión urbana que se desarrolla al cambiar la cobertura y el uso del suelo. es-ES
