Derived from the analysis of the relationship among the training of teachers, teaching performance and the quality of the system and its evolutionary process on one hand, and, on the other, of the changes that need to be made in teacher training curricula, specially in high-school, three central positions are proposed for the change in the formation process, with reference to the role of the teaching-practice, the integration between discipline and pedagogy and to the ethical and valoric aspects in the formation.Partiendo del análisis, por una parte, de la relación entre la formación de los profesores, el desempeño docente, y la calidad del sistema y su proceso de cambio y, por otra, de los cambios necesarios de introducir en los currículos de formación de profesores, especialmente para la educación media, se plantean tres orientaciones centrales para el cambio en la formación, referidas éstas al rol de la práctica, a la integración entre disciplina y pedagogía y al sustrato ético y valórico de la formación.
