Abstract
In this essay-type paper, we intend to make a socioeducational reflection about the functions that the Secondary School teacher should assume because of institutional, political, ethic and episthemologic changing scenarios that the Chilean education will face by the end of the XXth and beginnings of the XXIst centuries. Outstanding among these, is the change of the written and spoken language, the basis of a prescriptive transmission of knowledge’s pedagogy, by art image-action language which is a continuous challenge for the construction of new educational meanings. If we aspire to be a modem, participant and democratic society, the Secondary School and its teachers cannot stay aside of that epistemological pedagogical change. It stems from here the importance of considering a socioeducational profile definition of the Chilean Secondary School teacher.
