dc.description | With the lost of their lands after de occupation of the Araucanía, the mapuche people was confined to poverty and to be placed in a disadvantage position compare to the rest of the country. During this period of time (1883-1930), called reduccional, the education will be the key to achieve the reincorporation of the indigenous people. According to a new culture of resistance, the mapuches will incorporate the knowledge delivered by the schools in a utilitarian way, producing an increase on the demand to get into the schools. The increasing of this demand was absorbed through three educational agents. The State, catholic and protestants missions. They created a diverse educational context through their own educational projects, aiming all of them to take care of the increasing educational demand of an aboriginal people who instrumentally searched to obtain the skills given on these schools, pursuing the goal of preserving their culture. | en-US |
