| dc.description | The multiculturalism in the educational institutions cannot be understood like a simple performance to facilitate the social or school integration of students from another cultural origin; it is not only the presentation of alternative didactic strategies to stimulate desmotivated students; it is not only to give the appropriate educational tools to each academic singular reality; the multiculturalism must be understood as the acceptance of plural realities, like an ideology. It is to introduce a coexistence of plural realities that enrich the educational institution and the classroom with the differences, similarities and the necessities of the pupil. To educate in the multiculturalism it is necessary to change the faculty’s attitudes and the institution school, to change the relationships that take place in it. It is necessary to change the institutionalized educational process. The school should not assume a model of cultural understanding or of cultural competition but a model of cultural emancipation and social reconstruction where the culture of the minorities is a positive value and the multicultural education promotes the cultural emancipation and the social improvement of the pupil increasing its selfconcept and expectations, breaking the circle of poverty and lack of opportunities that, sometimes wraps those minorities. The multiculturalism should not only be introduced through the transmission of the contents in the classrooms like a simple informative reinforcement, by means of educational techniques, but rather we should introduce it in the organization structures and not to reduce the multiculturalism to the mere educational intervention but leaving the walls of the classrooms and educational institutions to collaborate or to assume protagonism in other social activities. | en-US |
| dc.description | La multiculturalidad en las instituciones educativas no se puede entender como una simple actuación para facilitar la inserción social o de aprendizajes de alumnos de otra procedencia cultural; no es únicamente la presentación de estrategias didácticas alternativas para estimular al alumnado desmotivado; no es únicamente dar las herramientas educativas adecuadas a cada realidad académica individual; la multiculturalidad se ha de entender como la aceptación de realidades plurales, como una ideología. Es introducir una convivencia de realidades plurales que enriquezcan a la institución educativa y al aula con las diferencias, similitudes y las necesidades del alumnado. Para educar en la multiculturalidad es necesario cambiar las actitudes del profesorado y la institución escuela, cambiar las relaciones que en ella se producen. Es necesario cambiar el proceso educativo institucionalizado. La escuela debe asumir no un modelo de comprensión cultural o de competencia cultural sino un modelo de emancipación cultural y reconstrucción social en donde la cultura de las minorías sea un valor positivo y la educación multicultural promueva la emancipación cultural y la mejora social del alumnado aumentando su autoconcepto y expectativas, rompiendo el círculo de pobreza y neomiseria y falta de oportunidades que, a veces, envuelve, esas minorías. La multiculturalidad no debe introducirse únicamente a través de la transmisión de los contenidos en las aulas como un simple refuerzo informativo, mediante técnicas docentes, sino que debemos introducirla en las estructuras de organización y no reducir la multiculturalidad a la mera intervención educativa sino salir de las paredes de las aulas e instituciones educativas para colaborar o asumir protagonismos en otras actividades sociales. | es-ES |
