dc.descriptionThe Quality Assurance Law for Higher Education (2006) establishes that the Ministry of Education should prepare a proposal for a Certification and Licensing system of graduates in two years time. This seems to be the next step after the accreditation of undergraduate programmes - a view shared by a number of stakeholders. This document reviews data on initial teacher training in Chile and provides elements to reflect upon a certification system for the content and pedagogical knowledge of teacher education graduates, with the purpose of contributing to the improvement of teacher education in the country, as well as the characteristics, potential and limitations the system might have.en-US
dc.descriptionLa Ley de Aseguramiento de la calidad de la educación superior (2006) establece que el Ministerio de Educación deberá proponer un sistema de certificación y habilitación de los egresados en un plazo de dos años. En este contexto, parece ser el paso siguiente a la acreditación de carreras. Diversos actores del sistema comparten esta visión. En el presente documento se revisan antecedentes sobre la formación inicial docente en Chile y se ofrecen elementos para contextualizar la implementación de un sistema de certificación de conocimientos disciplinarios y pedagógicos de egresados de las carreras de pedagogía, en el marco del aseguramiento de la calidad de la formación docente, así como las características, potencialidades y limitaciones que podría tener este sistema.es-ES
