El artículo muestra la forma como la escuela se estructuró en el mundo a partir deun modelo de homogenización surgido de los países europeos. Este modelo quemantiene intactos sus fundamentos organizativos, se enfrenta con nuevas concepcionesdel mundo que asignan un nuevo valor a la diversidad cultural, sin acabar deencontrar un modo de educar a los niños y jóvenes bajo parámetros diferentes a lostradicionales. De otra parte, da cuenta de que aspectos fundamentales de igualdadde oportunidades y equidad en la distribución de la riqueza y el conocimiento, noencuentran respuesta en muchos países donde la educación formal ha sido segmentadade forma muy fuerte. Al final, se presenta como alternativa el desarrollo de unaescuela centrada en la creación de ambientes educativos que faciliten el desarrollodel talento humano y la valoración de la diversidad.This article shows how the world’s institutional framework of schools was set up onthe basis of a homogenizing model that emerged in European countries. This model,which has kept its organizational foundation intact, is now faced with new worldwidenotions that allocate a new value to cultural diversity, yet failing to find a way toeducate children and young people under different parameters from the traditionalones. In addition, it brings up the issue that fundamental aspects such as the needfor equal opportunities and an equitable distribution of wealth and knowledge donot produce a response in many countries where formal education has been stronglysegmented. The paper ends by proposing the alternative of developing a kind of schoolfocused on creating educational environments that will encourage the developmentof human talent and the valuation of diversity.
