The curriculum of the Educational Reform is been analyzed. In the elaboration of this Reform, a descriptive, prescriptive and critical theory has been used. The important presence of the content is not to promote memoristic knowledge but the understanding and application of it in day to day life. There is an emphasis in the development of superior intellectual abilities. The new curriculum maintains the separation among disciplines, however the presence in the Program of the cross curriculum objectives creates possibilities of approximation between different fields of knowledge. The curriculum looks after an equilibrium of different modalities of learning: receptive learning and learning by doing, individual learning and group learning. The Program suggests the use of different evaluation instruments.Se analiza el Marco Curricular de la Reforma educativa chilena. Se advierte que, en la elaboración de estos instrumentos curriculares, se han manejado teorías curriculares de orden descriptivo, prescriptivo y crítico. Se hace ver que, si bien hay una importante presencia de los contenidos culturales, éstos no promueven el aprendizaje memorístico de los mismos; interesa por sobre todo que la adquisición de los conocimientos vaya acompañada de una cabal comprensión y aplicación a la vida cotidiana. Hay un énfasis en el desarrollo de habilidades intelectuales superiores. Se constata la tradicional división por áreas disciplinarias separadas. Sin embargo, los saberes se aproximan a través de los Objetivos Fundamentales Transversales. Igualmente, los Programas de estudio buscan un equilibrio entre el aprendizaje por recepción y el aprendizaje activo; entre el trabajo en equipo y el aprendizaje individual. El Programa sugiere diferentes modalidades y estrategias de evaluación.
