Different countries of the Region are developing a series of projects to celebrate the Bicentenary. In a context of competition for visibility, these plans are intended to promote country image by taking into account the concepts of globalization and neoliberalism. In the case of Chile, initiatives are more focused on the future than the past of the nation. It is a turning point for Chilean urban policies, where Ciudad Parque Bicentenario, through the combination of basic concepts of quantity, quality and integration, is an example of this forward-looking approach expressed on housing-urban affairs. With a major role of the State, Chile has gradually consolidated a housing policy and reduced the quantitative housing deficit. However, this policy had serious urban and social consequences; sociospatial segregation is one of them. The solution to these problems is, then, a task of the new policies. The "I Love My Neighbourhood" programme (PQMB by its initials in Spanish) is composed by elements that may coincide to those of fourth generation policies, namely, participation, integration and systematicity. This initiative represents an important turning point in first, second and third generation policies; which were thought to address the construction of housing units, urbanization and regularization respectively.Para celebrar el Bicentenario, en los distintos países de la Región se están desarrollando proyectos, que buscan la visibilidad de los países frente a los otros en un periodo que prima la competitividad de la imagen-país bajo el contexto de la globalización y el neoliberalismo. En el caso de Chile, los proyectos poseen una visión futurista más que una conmemoración del pasado, lo que expresado en la política urbano-habitacional, el proyecto que representa nuevos principios de política es el Parque Ciudad Bicentenario, que propone juntar conceptos básicos de cantidad, calidad e integración, formando parte de la inflexión que presenta la política actualmente. Se debe considerar que Chile con el tiempo ha consolidado una política habitacional y ha reducido el déficit cuantitativo de viviendas con un papel principal por parte del Estado, no obstante esa política de cantidad tuvo graves consecuencias sociales y urbanas, dentro de las cuales está la segregación socioespacial. Estos problemas son los que la nueva política debe revertir. El PQMB presenta indicios de una posible 4o generación de políticas que se propone más participativa, integral y sistémica, representando una importante inflexión de las antiguas políticas de 1o, 2o y 3o generación correspondientes a construcción de viviendas de urbanización y regularización.
