This article reviews some proposals, both from theater and performance, that have used technology as a form of scenic expression, exposing the body and its physical and acting limits; and as a spatial expression, modifying dimensions by means of lighting elements, building virtual sets and making remote communications possible to bring together actors from different parts of the world on the same stage. This research aims to answer, through a critical review of theatrical and performative milestones of the 20th and 21st centuries, in what way can new technologies be constituted as elements of scenic-spatial expression? It is essential to refer to some precursors such as Sterlac and his theories of the obsolete body or the set designer and artistic director of The Magic Lantern of Prague, Josef Svoboda. For these creators, technology was a fundamental part of their practices, not just a support for stage actions or a replacement for the old painted backdropsEn el presente artículo se hace una revisión de algunas propuestas, tanto del teatro como de la performance, que han utilizado la tecnología como forma de expresión escénica, exponiendo el cuerpo y sus límites físicos y actorales; y como expresión espacial, modificando dimensiones por medio de elementos lumínicos, construyendo escenografías virtuales y haciendo posible comunicaciones a distancia para reunir a actores de diversas partes del mundo en un mismo escenario. Esta investigación pretende responder, mediante una revisión crítica de hitos teatrales y performativos del siglo XX y XXI, ¿De qué manera las nuevas tecnologías pueden constituirse como elementos de expresión escénico-espacial? Resulta imprescindible referirse a algunos precursores como Sterlac y sus teorías del cuerpo obsoleto o el escenógrafo y director artístico de La linterna Mágica de Praga, Josef Svoboda. Para estos creadores, la tecnología fue una parte fundamental de sus prácticas, no solo un apoyo a las acciones escénicas o un reemplazo de los antiguos telones pintados.
