This paper examines the formalization of the investigation from the perspective of criminal proceedings. Firstly, and in order to accomplish this, it gives a brief account of the discussion about the meaning of the object and takes position about this. It then analyzes the right to know the contents of the complaint. Both aspects can generate a basis for examining the formalization of the investigation, its characteristics and control mechanisms. Finally, it theorizes about the nature of the 'reformalización and new formalizations of the investigation that can be carried out in a process, analyzing the objections that have been made, for alleged violations of rights of the accused with such acts, concluding that these acts are adjusted to law, which respond to the characteristics of the object of the process in the investigation stage, and that the problems are really found in the way the closure of the investigation is regulated.Se examina en este trabajo la formalización de la investigación desde la perspectiva del objeto del proceso penal. Para ello, en primer lugar, se da breve cuenta de la discusión acerca del significado del objeto y se toma posición al respecto. Se analiza, posteriormente, el derecho a conocer el contenido de la imputación. Ambos aspectos, permiten generar una base para el examen de la formalización de la investigación, sus características y mecanismos de control. Finalmente, se teoriza acerca de la naturaleza de la reformalización y las nuevas formalizaciones de la investigación que puedan llevarse a cabo en un proceso, analizándose los reparos que se han efectuado, por supuestas infracciones de garantías del imputado con tales actos, concluyéndose que se trata de actos ajustados a derecho, que responden a las características del objeto del proceso en la etapa de investigación, y que los problemas en realidad se encuentran en la forma en que está regulado el cierre de la investigación.
