The marked demographic decline of the indigenous population and the reduction of their protected lands in the northeast of the New Kingdom of Granada during the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries gradually accelerated the disbandment of these ancestral communities. Progressively increased the number of absent natives and outlaws who happened to live in the ranches and in the houses of whites and mestizos or in the urban centers of the cities, towns and parishes that were in their order the main categories of the Spanish population on the rise. Under this context, this article aims to examine the consequences of this indigenous dispersion and its growing presence in the territories occupied by whites and mestizos, which in turn became a variable that influenced the disarticulation and dispersal of those communities as well as in its vertiginous process of miscegenation.La acentuada disminución demográfica de la población indígena y la reducción de sus tierras de resguardo en el nororiente del Nuevo Reino de Granada, durante los siglos XVII y XVIII, aceleraron de manera paulatina la desbandada de estas comunidades ancestrales, siendo cada vez mayor el número de indios ausentes y forajidos que pasaban a vivir en las estancias y en las casas de blancos y mestizos o en los núcleos urbanos de las ciudades, villas y parroquias que eran, en su orden, las principales categorías del poblamiento español en auge. En ese contexto, este artículo tiene como propósito examinar las consecuencias de dicha dispersión indígena y su presencia creciente en los territorios ocupados por blancos y mestizos, lo cual a su vez se constituyó en una variable que influyó en la desarticulación y dispersión de aquellas comunidades, así como también en su vertiginoso proceso de miscegenación.
