Knowledge has been artificially divided in distinct sciences, mainly due to the methodologies they employ; quantitative methods commonly being restrictive to the natural sciences and qualitative, to social and human sciences. This would give the first a supposed objectivity and universality. However, the boundaries between qualitative and quantitative approaches can’t be fixed strictly, because knowledge and interpretations are developed on individual construction, therefore they are subjective and variable. Therefore, for better analytical complexity and richness of a social sciences study, different methods should be used to produce a broader perspective, both including data collection and the interpretation of results. That is, to research in an integrated way with both methodologies. Thus, in the educational context, it would be pertinent, when carrying out a study, to first apply a survey to various actors in the community, from which data can be extracted to describe and interpret the context, as well as concepts that allow the elaboration, delimitation, expansion and incorporation of questions to carry out an in-depth interview with selected individuals. This methodological combination allows to obtain breadth, but at the same time more depth in the analysis, as well as to limit the research instrument, resulting more pertinent.Los saberes han sido divididos artificialmente en distintas ciencias, principalmente debido a las metodologías que emplean, siendo comúnmente los métodos cuantitativos restrictivos a las ciencias naturales y los cualitativos, a las sociales y humanas. Esto le otorgaría a las primeras objetividad y universalidad. No obstante, los límites entre lo cualitativo y lo cuantitativo no pueden fijarse de manera estricta, puesto que el conocimiento y las interpretaciones nacen de una construcción individual, por lo tanto son subjetivos y variables. Entonces, para una mayor complejidad y riqueza analítica de un estudio en Ciencias Sociales, conviene utilizar distintos métodos que amplíen la mirada, tanto en la recolección de datos como en la interpretación de resultados. Es decir, trabajar integradamente con ambas metodologías. Así, en el contexto educativo, resultaría pertinente, al llevar a cabo un estudio, aplicar primero una encuesta para diversos actores de dicha comunidad, de la que se puedan extraer datos para poder describir e interpretar el contexto, así como conceptos que permitan elaborar, acotar, ampliar e incorporar interrogantes para llevar a cabo una entrevista en profundidad con individuos escogidos. Esta combinación metodológica permite obtener amplitud, pero a la vez más profundidad en el análisis, así como acotar al instrumento investigativo, resultando más pertinente.
