Numerous authors have dealt with the agricultural potential of the Pampa del Tramarugal (Blake, 1843; Puelma, 1855; Bollaert 1860, among the oldest), almost all of them referring to the possibilities offered by the system of "canchones" in the Pampa; scarce are, on the other hand, the efforts directed to study in a concrete and systematic way the possibilities of reusing formerly cultivated soils and their consequent repopulation. This is the objective of the present analysis, which is predominantly historical in nature. Numerosos son los autores que se han ocupado de paso de las potencialidades agrícolas de la Pampa del Tramarugal (Blake, 1843; Puelma, 1855; Bollaert 1860, entre los más antiguos), refiriéndose casi todos ellos a las posibilidades que ofrece el sistema de "canchones" en la Pampa; escasos son, en cambio, los esfuerzos dirigidos a estudiar en forma concreta y sistemática las posibilidades de reutilización de suelos, antiguamente cultivados y su consiguiente repoblamiento. Este es el objetivo del presente análisis, de índole predominantemente histórica.
