| dc.description | Human Geography has to deal with new challenges as a result of the already well known “space-time compression”. The growing mobility of contemporary societies, forces us to review the very concept of identity in its spatial dimension, as a central element to rebuild the modern man and the territorial dynamics. The central hypothesis of this paper is that mobility is not destroying identities but reconfiguring them trough new territorial dynamics, much more fluid than before, particularly because the mediation of the new technologies of information and communication, allowing new social interactions. Those ideas are illustrated by two examples: tourism and international migrations. | en-US |
| dc.description | La Geografía Humana se enfrenta con nuevos retos, por la ya muy estudiada “compresión espacio-temporal”. La creciente movilidad de las sociedades contemporáneas nos impone revisar el concepto mismo de identidad en su dimensión espacial, como elemento central para reconstruir el individuo moderno y las dinámicas territoriales. La hipótesis central de este trabajo es que el incremento de la movilidad no destruye las identidades sino que las reconfigura a través de nuevas dinámicas territoriales, mucho más fluidas que por el pasado, particularmente por el rol de las nuevas tecnologías de información y comunicación que permiten nuevas interacciones sociales. Lo anterior se ilustra a través de dos ejemplos: el turismo y la migración internacional. | es-ES |
