| dc.description | The United Nations General Assembly has adopted this year as the International Year of Shelter for the Homeless by “focusing on the situation of millions of homeless people and those who live on the streets, spend the night in hallways, subway stations and entrances of public buildings and those who lost their homes as the result of natural or man-induced disasters; this event is also an opportunity to take actions on such an issue.” “(…) Attention is also given to the situation of hundreds of millions of people who lack proper housing and live in poor sanitary conditions in urban slums and poor rural areas.” (Source: Commission on Human Settlements, United Nations: International Year of Shelter for the Homeless. In line with this goal, the Scientific Society of Chile organized a meeting entitled “The Lack of Housing and Its Social Consequences”, which saw the participation of prominent representatives from the different entities involved in the housing process. | dc.description | Este año, la Asamblea General de las Naciones Unidas lo ha proclamado como el Año Internacional de la Vivienda para las Personas sin Hogar y se ha establecido como objeto primordial "realzar la situación de millones de personas que no tienen casi, los que viven en las calles, los que duermen en portales, en los metros y en las entradas de edificios públicos y los que han quedado sin hogar a causa de desastres naturales o de desastres provocados por el hombre y también brinda la oportunidad de tomar medidas al respecto "(...)" también realzará la situación de los cientos de millones que carecen de una vivienda adecuada y que con frecuencia viven en condiciones insalubres en barrios urbanos de tugurios y de precaristas y en zonas rurales empobrecidas" (Fuente: Comisión de Asentamientos Humanos, Naciones Unidas: Año Internacional de la Vivienda para las Personas sin Hogar. En concordancia a los objetivos planteados por las Naciones Unidas en relación a las personas sin hogar, la Sociedad Científica de Chile organizó en el mes de abril, una jornada panel titulada: "La falta de vivienda y sus proyecciones sociales", con la participación de destacados representantes de los diversos agentes que toman parte en el proceso habitacional, para incentivar el estudio, análisis y discusión de soluciones al grave problema de la carencia de vivienda y sus implicancias en términos de calidad de vida. | es-ES |
