dc.descriptionIn this article we analyze the media treatment given to the news about the international day against gender-based violence in the journal El Norte de Castilla between the years 2000 to 2013. In particular, we aim to break down the approach given to the news of this anniversary, and determine whether the recommended guidelines for reporting gender-based violence news are followed, as well as to analyse whether the evolving social and legal aspects in gender issues have been adopted by the journal over time.The main sources used for this research are the journal contents with regards to the mentioned subject and a series of interviews that aim for a deeper understanding of the politic, mass media and social reality of the gender-based violence in Spain.en-US
dc.descriptionEste artículo estudia el tratamiento informativo del Día Internacional contra la Violencia de Género en el periódico El Norte de Castilla -diario decano de la prensa española- desde el año 2000 hasta el 2013. En él se analiza el enfoque periodístico de la citada efeméride con el fin de comprobar si se siguen las recomendaciones de los expertos en materia de comunicación y violencia de género. Busca probar si, desde un punto de vista longitudinal, se observa una evolución de los contenidos y enfoque de los mismos desde la primera celebración de dicha efeméride. Las fuentes empleadas para llevar a cabo la investigación son los fondos de archivo de El Norte y las entrevistas en profundidad dirigidas a sus periodistas y a expertos en violencia de género.es-ES
