The article reviews and analyses the way the Chilean historians of classical Marxist tradition, between 1950 and 1973, defined and related the categories of the political and the social, and inscribed their conceptual matrix between the liberal and the Marxist tradition to thematize the question of the popular movement.El artículo revisa y analiza el modo como los historiadores chilenos de la historia marxista clásica, entre 1950 y 1973, definieron y relacionaron las categorías de lo político y lo social, e inscribieron su matriz conceptual entre la tradición liberal y marxista para tematizar la cuestión del movimiento popular.
